Considered both decorative and durable, Epoxy floors are a popular solution for today’s flooring needs whether at home or at work. When choosing a new floor covering, color, strength, cleanability and texture are main considerations. Epoxy flooring meets those needs and more!!

These floors are durable, easy to maintain, skid resistant and above all beautiful! The color combinations are endless! Floors can be made to look like marble, slate, tile, or wood. You can even have your favorite sports team’s logo incorporated into the design! Metallic epoxy floors have a shine that never ends!

An epoxy floor is a blend of resin and a curing agent that is applied to a concrete floor to offer protection and strength. Agents can be added to the mixture that can create beautiful designs, enhance slip resistance, or even improve antimicrobial properties. How the room is going to be used will determine the additives to be included.

Since it is so durable, epoxy flooring is great for kitchens and bathrooms. Spills are cleaned with paper towels or a mop. No worry about stains since the liquids do not penetrate the surface of the epoxy! Since the poured resin floors are seamless, there is no place for debris or bacteria to hide.

Cleaning epoxy floors could not be easier! A broom or dry mop to remove the surface dirt is really all that is needed. A quick rinse with warm water is really all that is needed! In fact, soap can dull the glossy shine of the floor! Stay away from acidic cleaners or harsh abrasives as they will damage the seal.

Epoxy flooring starts with a properly prepared concrete slab. The slab needs to be in the right condition for the proper bond to form. This is a critical aspect to keep in mind, as if the concrete is cracked or chipped, the system is destined to failure. Any cracks or imperfections in the concrete slab need to be repaired before the epoxy process is started. Cracks or other breaks in the concrete will eventually allow water to seep in from below. This moisture will break the bonds of the epoxy and eventually the system will fail.

The existing floor needs to be completely cleaned to remove any oil, paint, or debris before the pour. Typically, the floor will then be etched with acid to create a surface that will bond correctly. The creativity begins when the floor is ready!!
